NEWARK, NJ -- The Ironbound Express picked up their first victory of the season defeating West Virginia, 3-0, on Saturday night at Lubetkin Field on the Campus of NJIT.
The Ironbound Express took 14 shots on cage as Josh Trott, Matia Damiani and Gary Boughton all scored in the season opener.
The Express scored in 22nd minute as Trott made it a 1-0 lead. The Express outshot the Chaos 7-4 after the first 45 minutes.
In the final six minutes of regulation, the Express added two more goals when Richard Lesmes found Damiani in the 84th, followed by John Sallhag sending a pass to a streaking Boughton two minutes later.
The Ironbound Express outshot the Chaos, 14-6, in the contest and took six corner kicks, but with the wind gusting around the field caused most kicks to sail away from the box.
Ryan Meara made three saves for his first shutout of the season for the Ironbound Express.
The Express will travel to Central Jersey on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
