Express improves to 2-0
The Ironbound Express picked up an important victory

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Ironbound Express picked up an important victory over the Central Jersey Spartans, 2-0, on Wednesday evening at the PDA Complex.

The Express got a goal in the 39th minute as midfielder Michael Konicoff found Kevin Meyer to give the team a 1-0 lead. The Express took eight shots in the first half, while their opponents took three.
In the second half, the Express took a 2-0 edge as forward Jerrod Laventure fed Mohammed Mashriqi in the 47th minute.  The Ironbound Express outshot the Spartans, 13-6, as Ryan Meara was not credited with a save, but did get his second shutout of the season.
With the victory, the Express moves to 2-0 on the season and now has six points with two games remaining in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup qualifier. Central Jersey is now 0-1 with three games remaining in the Open Cup qualifier.
The Ironbound Express will stay on the road for a meeting with the New Jersey Rangers on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Morris Catholic High School.
