NEWARK, NJ -- Jerrod Laventure scored the lone goal as the Ironbound Express improved to 3-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over the New Jersey Rangers on Saturday afternoon at the Morris Catholic High School Field. 

With the victory, the Express lead the Mid-Atlantic Division in their quest to qualify for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

Neither team scored in the opening half, but the Express held a 7-3 shot advantage over the Rangers, as Michael Drozd made three stops.

The score remained scoreless until the 79th minute, when Laventure scored his first goal of the season.

Once again, Drozd was stellar in the second half, making two saves for a game total of five.

The Express finished the contest with 12 shots on target.

The Ironbound Express will return back home to Lubetkin Field on Wednesday for the final contest in the Open Cup qualifier against Ocean City, beginning at 8 p.m.
